Decidedly paying homage to an old classic, VW took to the Detroit Auto Show to unveil the sleek Volkswagen Beetle Dune concept – a modern interpretation of the beloved Baja Bug. In keeping with the similar Bug aesthetic, there are some notable differences under the hood as well as on the body. Powered by the R-Line’s turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, the bug also features a six-speed dual clutch transmission, 210 hp not to mention a raised roof and a redesigned front end.
Moderately measuring longer, taller and wider than the current model of the Beetle, some fear this could possibly be the final version of the “New Beetle” Dune base. Only time can reveal the final outcome now.
