It’s a sad day for guys who enjoy a cheeky nip before bedtime. A new study has revealed that ‘one for the road’ doesn’t actually aid your sleep at all – in fact it disrupts it. A good few drinks may appear to lull you into a gentle booze coma however the studies show that despite alcohol reducing the time you doze off, waking after falling asleep increased during the second half of the night.
“Alcohol on the whole is not useful for improving a whole night’s sleep,” said Irshaad Ebrahim, medical director of The London Sleep Centre, who conducted the review. “Sleep may be deeper to start with, but then becomes disrupted.”
