Students of Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design have teamed up with Slovenian architectural firm OFIS and AKT II structural engineers to design an emergency Alpine shelter located at Mount Skuta’s base in the Kamnik Alps. Built to withstand extreme conditions, the building is both durable and stylish. Triple-pane glass windows lend to spectacular views surrounding the Alps’ third highest peak. Adding to its allure, the Slovenian Army airlifted prefabricated modules and installed them in just one day. The designers also took into consideration the terrain’s natural slope, which minimizes environmental impact to the stunning snow-capped site. Your ski excursion is about to get a whole lot more interesting.
