Club DJ’s, scratch turntablists, crate diggers, and vinyl aficionados alike are surely rejoicing, with news of a new Technics turntable. Panasonic, under the Technics umbrella, announced its intent to build a worthy successor to the infamous SL-1200. Long considered by many to be the benchmark of turntables since its introduction in 1972, the new model – set to drop sometime in 2016, will feature a coreless stator, high torque twin rotors, oil-impregnated high-precision bearings, and a revamped direct-drive motor control. Feeling the pinch since its discontinuation back in 2010, chalk up a definitive win for record heads everywhere.
