LaFerrari

The International Motor Show took place recently in Geneva and there was one car that really stole the show – LaFerrari, which means ‘The Ferrari’ in Italian.

The futuristic-looking snarling beauty of LaFerrari is like no other Ferrari before it. Being a 963-hp hybrid makes LaFerrari more powerful, more expensive and much faster than the Enzo. Unsurprisingly, it has also become highly sought after with the announcement from CEO Sergio Marchionne at the unveiling that there were demands from more than 700 clients despite there only being 499 models made.

The hybrid is the first gasoline-electric Ferrari model in existence. LaFerrari is powered by the HY-KERS system that consists of a 6.3 litre V12 engine capable of delivering of 800-hp that’s twinned with a 163-hp electric motor.

Want to know how fast it goes? It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in less than 3 seconds and from 0 to 124 mph in less than 7 seconds. When it was tested in Fiorano near the company’s headquarters Maranello, Italy it was completed a lap in an astonishing 20 seconds – five seconds faster than the much loved Enzo and three seconds quicker than the F12 Berlinetta.

There are super cars and there are God-like cars, and LaFerrari – with its worthy title – has certainly been lofted proudly onto that pedestal.
